I'm Marci Campbell — fractional CPO, AI transformation consultant, and global hackathon program lead with 20+ years of shipping products that actually matter. I embed, execute, and leave things better than I found them.
20+ years across regulated industries. CPO-level operator who still does the work. Based in Cincinnati, active globally.
I don't operate from a slide deck. Every engagement is embedded — I learn your team, understand your goals, and do real work alongside you.
You don't always need a full-time CPO — but you always need clear product leadership. I plug into your team, stabilize execution, mentor your PMs, and make sure engineering is building the right things. This is embedded work, not slide decks.
Talk about your situation →I design and run large-scale innovation programs from end to end — strategy, platform, judging infrastructure, mentor networks, scoring pipelines, and live event execution. Currently leading a 130-country, 5,000+ student global AI hackathon for USAII.
Tell me about your event →Most small and mid-size businesses are using AI for individual tasks. The real value comes when AI is embedded into your actual workflows. I run an AI Maturity Audit, surface your highest-ROI use cases, and build a clear 30–60–90 day roadmap without the chaos.
See the framework →As Program Director for the USAII Global AI Hackathon, I built and run everything: the qualifier platform, the AI scoring pipeline, judge and mentor recruitment, the run-of-show, and event execution. Over four days in June 2026, 5,761 students from 130 countries submitted qualifier responses — scored automatically by an AI pipeline I designed and built on Claude. Zero scoring failures.
Volunteers from
AI scoring pipeline: Claude claude-sonnet-4-6 via Anthropic API. 808 scored submissions, zero failures. 26 flagged submissions reviewed by human panel.
Scale context: Cal Hacks (UC Berkeley) hosts ~2,500 students by application. Stanford's TreeHacks is widely recognized as one of the largest U.S. collegiate events. The USAII Global AI Hackathon reached 5,761 registrants across 130 countries — the largest student AI hackathon I'm aware of by global reach — with over a third of participants coming from Africa and the Middle East.
Most organizations are experimenting with AI at the edges. The real competitive advantage happens when AI gets redesigned into how work actually flows. Here's the framework I use with every client.
Individuals use ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini for their own tasks. There are wins — but they're invisible to the company, not scalable, and walk out the door with the employee.
Most businesses are hereAI is embedded into repeatable, company-owned workflows. Teams get consistent output. There's measurable ROI. The gains stay with the organization — not just the power users.
AI influences decisions, connects across tools and data, and reshapes how the business competes. This is where category leaders separate from the pack. Few businesses are here yet.
My AI Maturity Audit maps where your team actually is, surfaces your top use cases by ROI and feasibility, and gives you a clear 30–60–90 day roadmap. Most clients find Level 2 opportunities they didn't know they had.
Book a free assessmentI've operated at CPO or VP level in the industries I now advise. That means I understand the regulatory pressures, the buyer dynamics, and the edge cases most consultants have never encountered.
Led digital curriculum products from startup to enterprise scale, serving millions of students and teachers across K-12 and higher ed. I understand how schools buy, how teachers adopt, and how to build products that survive the institutional procurement process.
Commercialized patented AI vocal biomarker technology for mental health risk detection — from research to market launch. I've navigated clinical partnerships, FDA-adjacent considerations, and insurance reimbursement models as a product leader, not a consultant.
As CPO at Coterie Insurance, I led 45 engineers, designers, and PMs through a product-led transformation that drove 62% new business growth and 46% renewals growth in a single year — in a regulated industry that does not forgive sloppy product decisions.
Led 45-person cross-functional team through full product strategy overhaul. Instituted continuous discovery, CI/CD, and a microservice Policy Admin Ecosystem — while achieving a 4.89/5 CSAT score and 20% usability improvement.
Built the qualifier platform (React + Supabase + Claude API), the AI scoring pipeline, judge/mentor recruitment and training, operations dashboard, run-of-show, and live event execution for the largest global student AI hackathon by reach.
Led product strategy from concept to market for a patented AI mental health risk detection platform. Used JTBD research to define features, directed mobile and WPF app development, secured VC and Scientific Advisory Board buy-in.
Cincy Product Camp organizing team. Cincy AI Week lead volunteer. Ocean Accelerator mentor. Fernside Youth Grief Facilitator. Youth athletic coach. American Heart Association Heart Ball Auction Chair.
I started my career writing software at Cincom Systems — back when most product teams didn't exist yet. Then I spent eight years as a technology coordinator at a K–12 school, which taught me more about how real humans actually use software than any UX course I've taken since.
From there: a decade in EdTech rising from customer success to VP of Product, then HealthTech, then InsurTech as CPO, then consulting — which is where I've been for the past ten years, doing the most varied and interesting work of my career.
I work at the intersection of product clarity, AI transformation, and human-centered design. I'm most useful to companies who need someone who can both see the bigger picture and actually do the work — not hand off a slide deck and disappear.
Tell me what you're building, where you're stuck, or what kind of help you're looking for. I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right fit — and if I'm not, I probably know who is.
